PROJECT:MARATHON Vol 2
13.08.2026
Words: Nizar Alaydrus
Project Marathon started last year with five runners from different backgrounds, brought together to prepare for the Jakarta Running Festival.
What began as a small group training together has grown into a broader running program this year. Alongside an intensive coaching program for 10 selected runners, Project Marathon is now opening its training plan to anyone preparing for the Jakarta Running Festival.
The Public Program is a 12-week training plan prepared by AM Wellness and organized by Track Union, designed for both the full marathon and half marathon. It gives runners a structured path through their preparation, from the first weeks of training to race day.
You don't have to be one of the selected athletes to be part of Project Marathon. The plan is built to be followed wherever you train, with several opportunities along the way to come together on the track.

"You can train the 12 weeks on your own. But when the plan brings us to the track, come run with us."
What's the Program?
The Public Program gives you two distances to choose from: Marathon — 42.2 KM, and Half Marathon — 21.1 KM. Both programs follow a 12-week progression, with the training load and sessions adapted to the demands of each distance.
Across the 12 weeks, you'll find the different parts of a marathon preparation laid out for you: easy running, recovery, strength work, running drills, longer runs, and sessions focused on developing speed and endurance.
The idea is not simply to tell you how much to run each week, but to give your training a structure — when to push, when to build, and when to give your body room to recover. The full training plan is available as a PDF, so you can follow the program at your own pace and fit it around your own week.

What Should I Expect From the Program?
The 12 weeks are designed to gradually bring you closer to the demands of race day. Early in the program, the focus is on establishing consistency and building your base. As the weeks progress, the sessions become more specific, with longer runs and more structured work introduced into the week.
The marathon program eventually builds toward long runs of 23–28 KM, while the half marathon program progresses toward 15–16 KM long runs.
You'll also see recovery days and easier sessions built into the plan. They're part of the preparation too, allowing your body to absorb the work rather than treating every run as a hard one. The program is there to give you direction, but how you execute it is still up to you. Your pace, your schedule, and how your body responds to the training will all be part of the process.

The Track Sessions
There are several track sessions throughout the 12-week program, all scheduled on Tuesdays. These are the faster, more structured sessions in the plan — designed to develop your ability to run at higher intensities while becoming more comfortable with controlled, sustained efforts.
For these sessions, the Public Program moves from your own training schedule into a shared environment. Track Union will organize the sessions at Stadion Madya, GBK, following the workouts prepared by AM Wellness. The six track sessions are the only scheduled group sessions within the Public Program — the rest of the training is yours to follow independently.
Join The Experience
You don't need to be selected for the Intensive Program to join the track sessions.
1. Follow the training plan — download the marathon or half-marathon program and follow the schedule for your chosen distance.
2. Check the track session — the six group sessions are highlighted in the training plan.
3. Track Session Stadion Madya, GBK — Track Union will organize and host the session on the day.
4. Run with us — show up, follow the workout, and train alongside other runners preparing for the same race season.
For the exact dates, session times, and further information, Track Union will arrange special invitations to runners participating in each session.
